St. Barts, or to give it its full name of Saint Barthélemy, is an island among the Leeward Islands in the north-eastern Caribbean that comprise the French West Indies, along with Saint Martin, Guadeloupe and Martinique. Saint Barthélemy was for many years a French commune which formed part of Guadeloupe, which is an overseas region of France and is therefore in the European Union.

The massive corals are often in full bloom, with an array of multi-colored coral fish in view everywhere. The most spectacular dives can be taken around Pain de Sucre, which is an islet off Gustavia harbour. Or you could try diving around a small cape, l’Ane Rouge, which is off Colombier bay.

The marine turtles were protected in 1991 and since then have rapidly reappeared in Colombier, Fourchue, and all around the island. Anyone who does dive in the waters which have been protected by the marine park is required to contribute one euro per dive to the park.

Another thing to pass the time when you take a luxury yacht charter in St Barts is the shopping. St. Barts is a duty free port, and people are always delighted with the choice of shops reminiscent of Rue du Faubourg St. Honoré in Paris. You will discover the likes of Hèrmes, Louis Vuitton, Chopard, Bulgari and Cartier, etc.
